Putting the Ego in Check • February 2018 Monthly Tarot Forecast

The Circle and the Dot Tarot                   The forecast for February is a call to return to spiritual orientation rather than allowing the more shallow and misdirected desires of the ego to lead us to defeat.  When we place our trust in the light found in the center of our hearts we are being oriented by a more reliable guide than where the egoic aspirations will lead us .Returning to the light to be found in the center of our hearts is our call for the month ahead. General Theme of the Month – The Sun RxThe Sun card is the depiction of light  It symbolizes how we shine out into the world with confidence, radiance and joy.  It is not only the representation of the Divine light that shines upon us, but also the spark of that light which shines within each of us.  Our inner light is a spark of the Divine.  You will notice in this card the child is without clothing.  The restraints of the ego have been shed, and this is what is required to allow this inner light to come shining through out being.  It is the... more

Appreciating the Beauty of the Uncut Gemstone • December 2017 Monthly Tarot Forecast

Appreciating the Uncut Gemstone • December 2017 monthly tarot forecast This month, we may be required to look beneath surface appearances in order to become aware of the immense value of the timeframe we are in.   On the surface, things may appear to be fraught with difficulties.  It may be a challenge to give value to the events that unfold.  However, in reality, this month has a cache of spiritual riches.  We may need to mine just beneath the outward circumstances and recognize the underlying beauty of the uncut gems that emerge from our explorations.  Remember this: everything is actually moving forward as it should.  At times it will require our faith to find appreciation in the moment.  It may require us to intentionally place value onto something that seems lackluster at a first glance.  This requires an act of faith.   General Theme of the Month – The Star RxThe reversed Star is the symbol of this challenge.  When it is in the upright position, it shows us how we can look to the nighttime sky and easily see the shimmering brilliance of the light... more

Taking Action by Taking Responsibility • November 2017 Monthly Tarot Forecast

Taking Action by Taking Responsibility • the Circle and the Dot   November's forecast is an interesting layout of cards.  First, if you have been reading the forecasts each month, you may remember the benevolent Star card appeared just last month, shining brightly down upon us, occupying the realm of the physical.  In November, we see the Star making an appearance again in the same position.  However, this month the light has dimmed with a reversal of the card.  We also see the two cards flanking the beginning and the end of the Swords suit, the ace and the ten.  I will go into the details of what these appearances mean as I dip into the cards individually. I would like to begin, however, by saying that the month of November holds opportunities for growth and advancement.  But growth comes only from our immediate facing of reality.  Growth and opportunity will come from our ability to look at our lives with the sharp edge of our consciousness. It is only through our ability to look squarely and firmly at the issues we face, and to make the... more

New Opportunities • October 2017 Monthly Tarot Forecast

The month ahead seems to be taking a pleasant shift away from the drama of the last couple of months.  It is a time in which we have the opportunity to use our experience as the nutrient rich humus from which we may plant new seeds.  We can use our recent difficulties as the fertile ground for new developments.  The beginning seedlings are able to take root at this time and there is promise and hope for future abundance. Therefore, October is a month of potential.  The seeds of opportunity that arise at this time have all the potential in the world to germinate, grow and eventually flourish if we take the care now to see that they are intentionally cultivated. The light of the Divine is making its appearance in two places in this reading.  Each card is wishing for us to see that through its presence, the Divine is here to help us in the manifest world.  In other words, we can use its presence to make improvements in tangible ways in our lives.  We  can use this timeframe to manifest... more

Overwhelm • August 2017 Monthly Tarot Forecast

Overwhelm • August 2017Monthly Tarot Forecast  Two days in (I'm late wring this) and the month of August is already proving to live up to its theme. We are likely to experience the events that unfold this month through the lens of anxiety, apprehension and overwhelm.   As a consequence, we may find that we are living within the “problem solving” mode.  We may find ourselves disengaged from our bodies and consumed with trying to fix the external circumstances of life by thinking up a solution to the underlying problem. But there are some solutions that cannot be easily fixed by the problem solving mind.  There are some things that need to come to us through being present within ourselves.  Some things need to come to resolution by making peace with the present moment and finding the quiet solitude within ourselves that is always accessible despite the chaotic outer world events that are transpiring. Some of the things that are arising to our attention to be changed cannot be forced through our actions and force of will.  It is... more

Entering the Abyss • July 2017 Monthly Tarot Forecast

Shada McKenzie • the Circle and the Dot Tarot  Shada McKenzie • the Circle and the Dot     The month ahead announces a time of change in our lives.  It can be thought of as a major initiation where we are being “reborn” into a new role.  This is to be fully embraced, yet we are likely to encounter areas of resistance.  Fears may arise.  We will feel the pull to check out at times, becoming fixated on what is secure and comfortable in our lives.  Remember, what we are being called to walk away from is ready to be left behind.  We cannot embrace the mystery of what lies before us while still being shackled to the past.   General Theme for the Month of July – The FoolOften tarot readers think of the Fool as foolish or naïve.  But for the theme of the month of July the Fool represents the awareness of our inability to fully perceive what we are about to descend into. We know something is happening, but what this exactly entails remains unknown.  It requires our trust in order to be able to take the leap forward.   It isn't an act of... more

Surpassing Denial • June 2017 Monthly Tarot Forecast

Surpassing Denial • the Circle and the Dot monthly Tarot forecast           This month we have the opportunity to experience a surge of momentum in our lives.  However, the potential to stunt this momentum is also very much present.  This is simply because of the propensity to steer this it into dead end directions.   If inappropriately directed, the result will be stunted or misdirected growth. June is a month where our challenge is to honestly determine what we do and do not have control over in our lives.  If we try to force something to bend to our will that simply cannot be as we wish it to, life will be experienced through the filter of anxiety and frustration.  Our goal is to merge with the flow and work within it in order to make the most of this month ahead.   General Theme For the Month of June – 6 of Swords RxThis is what the reversed 6 of Swords deals with.  When upright, it represents the wisdom of knowing when we cannot control an outcome.  It is about facing insurmountable obstacles by giving up our will and putting our lives in the... more

Abundance Through Self-Discipline • April 2017 Monthly Tarot Forecast

http://www.thecircleandthedot.com/tarot/monthly-forecast/abundance-through-self-discipline-%E2%80%A2           April is a month where we may encounter the highest of peaks and the lowest of valleys.  Amidst this swinging pendulum we are responsible for creating conditions in our lives that will stabilize us, ground us and allow us to flourish.  April is a month where we CAN flourish, despite the chaotic circumstances around us.  We have the power to do well through our self-discipline.       General Theme for the Month of April – 9 of PentaclesThe 9 of Pentacles represents the ability to achieve, even to thrive.  It also represents the luxury of basking in such an exalted place of living.  The path to this sort of success comes at the result of making concrete goals, hard work and sacrifice.  This month we can expect to gain ground in our lives, despite the challenges the month faces, if we rely on our own talents and resources to get ahead. If we take a look at the card, we see a well-to-do woman who is leisurely enjoying the luscious garden at her estate.  Her garden is indicative... more

Revisiting and Revising • March 2017 Monthly Tarot Forecast

Revisiting and Revising • March 2017 Monthly Tarot ForecastAs we take our first steps into the month of March, we approach an upcoming Venus retrograde season in the sign of Aries.  Venus is currently stationing and will begin its journey backwards into the celestial terrain it has just traversed by the 5th of March and will continue on its retrograde path through the rest of the month.   Typically, Venus is concerned with creating harmony in our lives.  There is a concern for affinity and compatibility in our relationships.  To have her retrograde this month, in the sign of Aries, she steps outside of her normal role.  There is a hint of rebellion in her actions.  She is not as concerned with harmony as much as she cares for authenticity and true self-expression.  If her typical striving for beauty and harmony interferes with the striving for this higher level of personal truth, authenticity will likely win.   This month is a revisitation of our beliefs and ways of going about doing things in our personal relationships and our relationship... more

New Chapter

New Chapter, the Circle and the Dot January 2017 forecast   General Theme for the Month Ahead – The Fool As we take the first steps into the new year, we encounter a very auspicious card.  It is one that describes an energy that we all welcome, and enables us to feel a growing optimism and hopefulness for positive changes in the upcoming year. The Fool is a card of new beginnings.  It is a card that indicates that when we crossed the threshold at the stroke of midnight, stepping out of 2016 with all its struggles and difficulties and into 2017, we were given the opportunity to leave it all of it behind and start again with a fresh, clean slate.   The Fool is a promise that we are about to embark upon a new story.  We don't know as of yet what the outcome of this story will be.  We don't even know just yet how the story might unfold, but we do know that it is a fresh story that is exciting and new, and that just about anything can come of it. What would you like to leave behind?  What is time to say goodbye to so that you can create the... more

The Tarot Hides Itself in the Hierophant: Implications for the Spiritual Seeker and the Tarot Reader

The Tarot Hides Itself in the Hierophant: Implications for the Spiritual Seeker and the Tarot Reader. Tonight, while spending some time with one of my decks, the question ran through my mind: which card best signifies the Tarot itself? In the same way we might choose a significator for ourselves or our clients, what card would be the one the Tarot would select to represent itself? I thought about this for a moment and then the image of the set of keys placed at the feet of the Hierophant came to mind. They are the very keys that open the doors to the Higher Self. Without the Hierophant, or other guides acting as an intermediary between the earthly and spiritual realms, we remain embedded within the limited understanding that the physical world is able to offer us.   The perceptions offered by our five senses can only take our awareness so far. We need a connecting passageway, or at least most of us believe we do, to access the higher understanding of our inner cosmos as well as the outer physical realm that goes further than our limited ways of perceiving can travel. The Tarot and... more

Oscillations • December 2016 Monthly Tarot Forecast

Oscillations • December 2016 Monthly Tarot Forecast               I am trying out a slightly different configuration of card positions this month from previous in order to see if I can deliver the most important messages more concisely.  The general theme of the month tells us what is going on in our lives.  It is the main concern that has been percolating and is about to express itself in the month ahead.  It tells us what to expect in the coming weeks.  The other positions tell us how we are individually and collectively prone to responding to this dynamic.  The general theme tells us what it is we are responding to.  General Theme for the Month of December – The Tower RxThe Tower destroys what has been built up.  It takes pleasure in doing so because whatever it is that is being destroyed has been built upon a foundation that is faulty.  Whatever comes collapsing down to rubble around us doesn't deserve to stand because it lacks the innate power to withstand the shaking.   From the outside, this structure may appear to be vital and... more

Accepting the Consequences

Accepting the Consequences November is a month where we will begin to see that we must accept the consequences for poor past decisions.  It is a month of adjustment.  With Jupiter now firmly in the sign of Libra, we are collectively looking to create balance in our lives so that we can make our world a finer and more livable place, but in order to achieve this the direction back towards harmony can at times be difficult if we have been making poor life decisions.  Most of us have.   Therefore, coming to terms with the naked truth about the ways in which we create our own disharmony comes to the forefront for us during this timeframe.  The current aim is to equalize what is out of balance in our lives.  This requires waking up and a willingness accept responsibility for the role we play. General Theme of the Month – Judgement RxJudgement is a card that calls upon us to truly and consciously change ourselves.  It is a time for modifying past behaviors and changing the ways in which we view the world that are not... more

Slow Start • October 2016 Monthly Tarot Energy Forecast

Slow Start • October 2016 Month Tarot Energy Forecast   For many of us, last month brought about a series of inevitable breakthroughs in our lives that may be quite challenging, yet are serving an underlying greater purpose with the intent to bring us to new stages of personal, emotional and spiritual development. This month, as the current carries us away from past baggage and towards new life experiences, we may find ourselves encountering resistance. A fear of moving forward. A desire to return to old, easier ways of being. A sense of overwhelm as we float in the cloudy soup of uncertainty. Or it may show up as unexpected delays in our progress. The resistance may be coming from within, or it may be situational. It is our job to uncover the reasons for the resistance we face, and commit ourselves to navigate through or around it.     General Theme For the Month of October – 3 of Pentacles Rx The reversed 3 of Pentacles addresses this specifically. When upright, it is a card of growth. It has to do with committing to a goal or a plan... more

Blessings • September 2016 Monthly Tarot Energy Forecast

As we take our first steps into the month of September, we are immediately met with the new Moon and the partial eclipse of the Sun.  New Moons are always representative of new beginnings, a reset of energy allowing for change.  And with the partial solar eclipse as an additional element thrown into the mix, there is an anticipation that some of the changes that are upcoming are beyond our control.  The changes to be encountered are fated. In a large sense, the change is good.  We will see from the cards laid out for the month that there is the possibility for a shift towards forging new emotional connections, possibly with people whom we have past histories with.  These emotional breakthroughs allow us to release past baggage, and it can help us to feel more at home within ourselves and within the world at large.   Allow what unfolds to show itself without resistance.  Some of us may feel emotionally exhausted right now and feel a longing desire to retreat into our private lairs... more

Opening to Guidance • August 2016 Monthly Tarot Energy Forecast

oening to guidance, august 2016 monthly tarot energy forecast   There is a tremendous energy and potential in the woodwork that has yet to come to the surface of our lives.  August is about sensing into this potential, and making space for it, despite the fact we may not yet be sure of what it even is or when it might start to materialize in our lives.  It is about overcoming doubts that arise simply because we aren't yet seeing the results we would like to see; putting our trust into the hands of a higher power and trusting the timing of goodness as it is ready to unfold.  It is about keeping the faith that potential for manifesting beauty is very much possible, even though the manifested reality as it currently stands feels burdensome.   It is a month of limitation in terms of being able to see the tangible results from the work we have been exerting.  Life has been a struggle for many of us.  But we need to stay strong in our resolve.  Our time is still coming.  Giving up on our dreams now will make all of the conscious work we have been... more

Getting Back On Track • July 2016 Monthly Tarot Energy Forecast

Layout for the July 2016 monthly tarot energy forecast General Theme For July – 6 of Swords RxAs we enter the beginning of this month, there are still some lingering and difficult energies that need to be shaken before we can leave the challenges from the last several months behind.  Therefore, the general theme of the month has to do with problems around leaving something behind that is necessary to move away from in order to embrace the lighter energies that are ahead.  If we don't navigate our way through our troubles we could become stuck within them. There is a literal and perfect example of this where I currently am residing, in Chiapas, Mexico.  There is a lingering teacher strike here, and last week in Oaxaca the situation erupted into violence when the government decided to randomly machine-gun down a number of school teachers in protest. In retaliation,  the teachers have been blocking an important oil refinery in Salina Cruz.  Gas supplies are dwindling.  People are waiting hours for a small ration of gas.  Riots are erupting... more

Venus in the Heart of the Sun

Venus Cazimi The Sun is the heart of our solar system, as wel as the central planet in astrology.  It has an animating influence, bringing life to all of the other planets.  Just like the heart pumps out fresh, oxygenated blood to all parts of the body and brings back the old, stale blood that is in need of rejuvenation, the Sun has a similar function with the planets that traverse our sky.   The direct light of the Sun brings health to the planets. Based on Wade Cave's recent research on the topic of planetary cycles in ancient astrology, we can think of the exact point when a planet crosses over the Sun's path as the place where the planet is reborn and cleansed of past karma.  From this place the planet begins its new life.  In the same way the moon has its phases, ALL planets have a phasic relationship with the Sun.  Each planet has its crescent waxing phase, its full phase and the waning crescent phase before it becomes hidden in the sky by the Sun's intense beams of bright light.   As the... more

Will, Karma and Transformation • June 2016 Monthly Tarot Energy Forecast

The Circle and the Dot June 2016 Tarot Forecast   One of the special and unique things about the deck I used for this month, The Primsa Visions Tarot, is that each of the four suits of the Minor Arcana are meant to be laid out in order to create a single, larger panoramic image.  Placed together, they tell the story of the suit.  This means that context is sometimes needed to fully understand the meaning of the cards.  I have placed additional images showing the preceding cards laid out in order below so that the story taking place will become more clear.   General Theme of the Month of June – The MagicianI love this card.  The Magician is the card that single-handedly sold me on this deck.  What we see in this image is the silhouette of a figure against the drop cloth of an enormous full moon.  If you look closely, you can see that in his hands is a much smaller figure who is being roughly controlled and tossed around.  Within the silhouette we can see the greater cosmos.  It is as if the Universe resides within him. When I see... more

May 2016 Tarot Energy Forecast • Intellectual Ambiguity/Emotional Clarity

Follow the light   This month we have a juxtaposition occurring between the  themes of ambiguity and clarity.  This month is likely to contain many moments where we may be able to feel in our hearts, with a sense of certainly, just what it is we need in order to be fulfilled, allowing us to step into the future with a greater amount of confidence and optimism for what is to come.  We may get an increased sense of what is and is not working in our lives, and will have the opportunity to begin to make adjustments so that we are living more in alignment with what we need to feel happy and fulfilled. This increased clarity is informed from our emotional intelligence.  It is because our light is shining brightest for us at this time on the emotional level. This brilliant emotional state of being has a way of combusting our intellectual light because of its heightened brilliance.  This is true for the first half of the month especially.  Therefore, those of us who are accustomed to leading the way with our... more

Impatience, Obstruction and Delays

Caramel Jenkin Image     Impatience, Obstruction and Delays April is a month which contains within it an exceptional amount of vigor.  Unfortunately, effectively channeling this energy to achieve goals will likely be challenging.  It is a month of delayed starts, obstructed potential.  It is the ungerminated seed that  could lead to moments of impatience and frustration if we are expecting to see fast and immediate results.   In the first few weeks of April, we are still under the influence of the exalted Aries sun.  However, the cards show tendencies towards the creative beginnings that typically accompanies this energy being thwarted.  This is likely due to the Mars retrograde period that begins mid month.  As I write these words, Mars, the planet of fiery ambition, is already beginning to station, and by the 18th he will be in retrograde until the 29th of June.  This malforms the energetic fire of Aries that we normally would be taking pleasure in right now.  Reversed, it cannot be expressed in its... more
